What is Barcelona?

What its like to live here?????

Barcelona!
It´s like no other city in Europe. Even as i first stepped off the bus from the airport, i would agree with many others living here, that there seems to be a different feeling to any other place ive been.
It is a very culturally influenced city, with examples of contemporary art found at almost street every corner within the centre of town. However in some of the outskirts, it could be confused with some war torn eastern european shanty town.

Make no mistake about it, Barcelona should not be confused with typical spanish stereotypes of siestas, and the work shy attitude of "mañana mañana". People work hard during the day and have no problem with walking right through you on the street or metro, because they´ve got some place to get to, fast!!
People here definately sleep less. I don´t know how they do, and even still after almost a year here, i´m still getting used to it. Maybe it´s all the coffee they drink! :)
Generally i feel that people work hard during the day, and party harder at night. I swear people invent more hours to the day, because everyone finds time to do so many things in their busy schedule.

They weather is usually great and for some strange reason that makes most of the people gorgeous, but maybe thats just the big shades! It´s such a bizarre place where you could see a girl who could be a super model strutting her stuff down Passieg de Gracia, dripping in Armani while passing by the filthiest, poorest begger you´ll ever see. It really is a city of beauty and the beast. I like to place myself somewhere in between. lol

Some say Barcelona is expensive to live, but i would disagree. Ofcourse, its easy to blow all your money here, but there are ways of making your money go alot further here, weather chilling at the beach with a few beers or heading to Parc Cuitadella on a Sunaday afternoon to survey all the other weird and wonderful people who stumbled across this amazing place.

I realise Catalunya is proud of its routes, but honestly nowadays i don´t think anyone can argue that Barcelona represents the region in its true identity. For me Barcelona is a haven for travellers who somehow ended up here and people who heard about the place and were intrigued.
