Barcelona Balloon Festival

This weekend, if you have accommodation in Barcelona and looking for something different to do this weekend, away from all the madness of the party city of Barcelona and the festival, Summercase, then head to Igualada.
Not many people will have heard of this town, roughly 50km from Barcelona, past Terrassa. However every year at this time it hosts one of the biggest Hot Air Balloon Festivals in the whole of Europe. From the 11th to the 15th of June Igualada will see over 25000 people come to watch and be fascinated as they eventually are launched up into the sky. Apart from the wonderful array of colours to excite all the spectators, the festival offers market stalls and the opportunity to try some local cuisine to complete the programme. If you are a holiday maker staying in an accommodation in Barcelona then you can easily reach the event by taking the R9 train from Plaza Espanya to Igualada.
