Mexican Fiesta in Barcelona

One of the biggest festivals happening in Barcelona this month is the Mexican festival for Independence day. This Mexican festival, Mexican Independence Day is celebrated September 15th and is the most important non-religious holiday in Mexico. The fiesta is celebrated as part of the Semana de Mexico Festival which includes a wonderful array of food, mariachis which is the 5 piece guitar group playing traditional Mexican music. Also they have gritos which are ritual shouts or cries of freedom and independence and of course it wouldn’t be Mexican without tequila!

The city of Barcelona will be painted with all the colours of Mexico and the events taking place at Plaza Reial and Poble Espanyol.
